To be honest, I never liked this lens and used it only once. It slowed down the focus on my 600/4 so I never used it again. Perhaps someone here would get better use out of it. I'm raising money for a 85/1.2 and a 1Ds Mk II and so I am selling a few of the lenses I don't use often. This is one of them.

For reference, I have the 2.0x II as well, and it does require a very sharp prime to be of any real use. It does slow down focus, however my 70-200 f/2.8 does AF pretty reliably with the converter, and is still sharp if stopped down some. The overall combination does require excellent light though.
