I want my own photography website. Do any of you have any suggestions on where I could get a cheap one or even better, free! I want to be able to make some choices as far as the layout goes, but if the layout is already great than it doesn't matter. I have been asked to do a photo shoot of a friends daughter! My first paying job! WOOOHOOO! So I need a place for people to go and see my portraits. Help please!

If you like mine, click on the little question mark at the bottom. It gives you a link to where you can download it.

It is very nice, but Do I make that from stratch by myself?

Ok, went to the link and after the 30 day trial, it would cost me more a month than what I want to pay. I would want more than 12 images. Thanks anyway.

No way! I was much too lazy for that.
Basically you download the layout, Pop in some jpegs, run two php scripts, and you're done.

Or, like in my case the php thing doesn't work on your server, use Exifer and edit the exif file yourself. You can even customise the whole look if the thing. There is a whole tutorial on the question mark link.

I use coppermine on my site. I enjoy it very much, extremely powerful, and pretty easy to use as well.

Web Hosting

They advertise $69/year for a blog but a friend of mine that works there said he can do it fo $49/year and if you need more just let me know and I'm sure that my friend can work it out as long as its kept quiet. ie. more space or more email addresses etc.

check the link on my site... They are free, give you 250mb space. and for a one time £5 payment you get a month to administer your site, add features, and also get to have 1GB space for ever....

Most importantly there are NO POPUPS like in other sites. Also if you decide to keep the membership you can sell pictures on the site and make $$$.

O' by the way did I mention that on fotopic.net you can have multiple sub sites using the same space. I have 1GB space and have made the two following sites.

Digital Portfolio - Asit Verma
Urvi's World

Avi

this is the host I use for my site. //www.hosteazy.com/ that deal right on the first page for $44 a year is not bad at all and they are VERY helpful.

I am in the process of using Mambo to re-create my pages //www.sabphotography.com but I like the idea of the coppermine so maybe I'll change to that soon. edit: just realized that the hosteazy site has Coppermine in their system so all you do it say install and it is there.

I use easycgi for hosting and this is my site.
but don't hold it against me! I started it, not thinking that it looked
good my my monitor with the resolution really high, and when adjust
down it looked horrible, so I started changing it, I found that I was
still making it too big, so, long story short, I'm working on it!

Yeah but this looks crap. Sorry but avoid this. You would want your site to stand out from the crowd?

Sorry just a personal opinion

Cheers

If your interested I can hook you up with web hosting for 60 a year. Very large space, email accounts, vpanel and tools for (guestbook, chatrooms and forums). You still have to code the main site yourself and I use dreamweaver MX to code. Photoshop has a gallery html plugin you can use to build a gallery page.

If you are interest maybe we can work out a trade. I will do some web work for you in trade. PM me if your interested.

I definately second that! I have the free site there and there are no pop-ups, just a small section of ads (which don't stand out at all). If you want to compare the paid (asitv's) to the free version (mine - www.dave-corney.photos.me.uk) you're free to do so. Also - the website address I got was free from them too!

Edit - hyperlink typo

Not to hijack this thread...
My website is www.dundubhi.com . I'm planning to redesign it too. I was wondering what is the purpose of using Mambo?
