Well at least the 100mm you are asking a little less than you can get it new from B&H. |

And you can find the 85mm with hood and filter for less then $275? Perhaps I should give them away.

I can buy it brand new for less than your buy it now price, hood, filter and all.
Let me add that you have every right to get the most you can for it. You can even run a little adds on web forums like this. But I have the right to point out that it might not be a sweet deal.
While I would never pay 95% of new price for a used item there are suckers out there that will. People pay more than new price for used items everyday on ebay. |

If you do decide to give stuff away, let me know, I'll help you out.

It is however against forum etiquette to be the price police.

Normally I wouldn't ask where, but since you're already drawing a whole lot of attention to this, I'd like to ask: where? I'm looking at B&H and new is definitely more than the starting bid for the auction - and this is without the lens hood and filter. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.

Why do you gotta rain on the guy's parade? If you have a problem or think his price needs adjusted, then PM him. Personally, I find it very rude when people do this to other people, and quite frakly, while we're at it, I find it annoying when they do it to me. Mind your business dude, and let him sell his stuff. I'm sure it's a good deal...
Besides, from his profile, and knowing him in the past, he knows his gear and knows what stuff is worth...and you on the other hand, just seem like you think you can get a good deal on something. You're the type of person that wants to know why someone would spend a lot of money on an L lens when you can just get a Quantaray for like $150...like I said man, mind your business.

You might want to take a look at the lenses I own before you start telling me what type of person I am.
I appoligize if its poor etiquette to coment but I believe it would be poor morals to not point out his buy it now price is higher than new. If I broke any forum rules then the SC can strike my comments. |

So what you're saying is... whenever you see something you feel is overpriced... you need to tell everyone that it's too expensive so that you don't have a sense of being bad? That your character would come into question? Seriously? Or is it that you are questioning the morals of the seller...

Thanks guys, but I guess Tim has a right to speak his mind. I get this type of thing every time I try to sell something and mention it in this forum. It is just part of the way some people try to get a price down I guess. All's fair...
I'll get my money out anyway and someone will get a perfect lens for less then they would have to pay new. Everybody's happy, right?
Here is a few more Canon lenses, a flash and a body that might interest you all.

I tried to see what lenses you own...but unfortunately, you don't have any added to your preferences. Now that'd be a good idea, wouldn't it?

I'm not sure he's trying to "get a price down"; he seemed to just be observing that your 'buy it now' price wasn't far off the cost of a new lens. It's a bit disappointing to see people bitching about pointing that out, unless you're hoping that buyers on ebay will just assume that it's a super deal without looking around.
I have to admit my first thought on your 2x Extender was that the 'buy it now' price was pretty much the same as a new one from B&H. Now as he said, good luck to you if you can find someone willing to pay that - but it seems a little off to have a go at someone for pointing out your desire to get a very generous price for second hand gear.

Not sure I'd be selling the 85/1.8 to buy a f/1.2 unless I really needed the f/1.2.. The 85 is a lot faster focusing, so reviews say. You'll also find more sports photog's with the 1.8 than 1.2. (I may be biased, since I own one.) For $275 it's a good buy.

I want everyone to look around. Just don't bitch about my prices. It was just a "Buy it Now" price and that disapears as soon as someone bids on the lens. The bidding price is well below the price of a new one and contrary to what Tim posted the "Buy it Now" price was less then new. If you want cheap buy Sigma. This is Canon equipment in new condition.

What comes through the 85/1.8 and the 85/1.2 is different. It is not just the speed. When I ownwed the 1.2 I hardly ever had the lens off the camera. With the 1.8 I hardly ever use it. Perhaps it is just a personal prefference.

Look, I really don't want to labour this point because ultimately it's obviously entirely up to you how you want to go about selling your used gear.
The 85mm 'buy it now' is less than $20 under the price I can see from B&H and yes, that's including the hood and filter. The 100mm is similar, around $25 under B&H new price (although that's a grey import; another $10 for the USA version).
Like you say, it works out very nicely if someone is willing to pay that kind of money, gets a slight discount on a new item and you get a good deal. I'm pretty sure that nobody is trying to stop you from doing that; nobody is being the "price police" and all that Niten was foolish enough to do was to express his opinion.
Now personally I'd rather pay the extra 5-10% and buy new; it sounds like Niten would too. But that's the beauty of Ebay; there's always someone willing to pay new prices for used gear.
I wish you every success.
edit: I'm not sure anyone was "bitching" about your prices anyway - simply commenting. I haven't seen anyone say "that's disgusting you must reduce your prices"
