2. do you disagree with animal cloning?
3. would you allow yourself to be cloned?
4. would you clone a dying family member?
5. would you clone your dying pet?

I am a fan of both McGregor and Johansson and will see it at one point.

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. No.
4. No.
5. No.

If one is to have beliefs, you must believe 100%. Creation, although tempting in many ways, is best left to God. The only creatus we should be involved in is Creativity, which I believe is one of our most beloved gifts, but that is completely seperate from creation of clones or artifically illuminating a life, for which the consequences and outcomes could be both alarming and devastating.

Cutter, the movie does show the negative aspects of cloning (humans anyway). You'll probably enjoy it more than I do, since I'm a person of science, and would marvel at the cloning technology more than anything else. Its a very nice movie, by the way. But it does makes you think, "how far would you go in the name of survival?". I may not fear death but I dont wish to die. And its upsetting to have your life-span calculated by your doctor. Would cloning be able to fix that? Are we merely just a brain in a body? Like a harddisk being fixed to a better hardware system?

I'd love to be cloned! There should be more of me running around! The whole world should be just run by entire clones of me! Me me me me!!

Makka, very funny. You make me laugh. Although, if you are really a syringe toting chihuahua, I might hesitate on your insistence.

I have read The Island Review and it does make you think. Although I may marvel at technology, (could Aristotle imagine a Physical World such as ours), I believe that morality must come into play in this regard. Survival is but an animalized instinct, fear is simply a vice, and a wish is only a hope without understanding. Basically, we shall die, and how will we wrap our brains around it. Should we wilter and slave away to nonchalance until our body decays? Or should we investigate the purpose of life and discover the possibility of belief?

I understand what you mean about a calculated life-span. That is understandable, but also a bunch of scientific speculation. For I know many a man who smokes incessantly and does not develop lung cancer. But for some it develops very quickly. This further strengthens my principle of devoting yourself to truth and God. We, in all our scientific know-how, can not discern most things.

I believe we are more than a brain and body. I have spent so much time on research and thought on this matter. I have come to a conclusion that there is more. Even the ancient Greeks, who "originated" philosophical inquiry, believed in a "pneumo" or spirit. And I believe we know deep within, that even if our brain goes sour, that something seperates me from a tree. Although we both grow and have life, "I think therefore I am". Or better said, "Nisi credideritis, non intelligitis"

I'd like my own personal copy of Ewan McGreggor.

on an honest note, makka, why the profile picture, why one challenge submission, and tell me about Perth. I have never been and love to learn about distant locales. Good morning or night or summer and winter or whatever it may be there. Ha.

2. No.
3. Yes, I like me.
4. Yes, if they want to be cloned I wouldn't stop them.
5. Yes, if it was a good pet.

Mr. King, first off, your Halo picture and it's outtakes are among the most inspired and inspirational photos i have come across yet on DPC. Let me congratulate you on that idea and execution. Second, Fort Hood, isn't that a Federal base? if so, what is that like. Third, I can't help but think your answers revolve in two arenas: 1: Humorous 2: Relativistic.

And if #2, isn't that the very thing that we strive against. Otherwise, what do we have to stand for. Keep up the great work!

Well, i thought it was a funny picture! (no, i didn't take it). Time has always been an issue for me with submissions and have only just got the time to start submitting (yes....there is one currently in the Tools of the Trade challenge). Perth is fantastic! Wouldn't live anywhere else....but I must admit....some people live in much better places to take photos in terms of beauty!

It is winter here....and during the day 3:22pm to be precise! :)

Makka, I understand why Washington D.C. is the capital, why is Canberra the capital of Australia? Is there a reason for this? Tell me more about the city and geographic life of Perth.

Why Canberra is the capital, I have no idea! I don't like Canberra very much. Perth is just very laid back and relaxing. Surrounded by a mountain range on the east and some of the best beaches to the west. Weather is normally warm to hot! Lowest winter temp I have suffered is -2 degrees whilst the hottest is 46 degrees (had my wisdom teeth out that day...the same day the first gulf war started!)

Sounds warm. We deal in Fahrenheit. Our degree scale is much more specific. But then again the difference between 83 degree Fah. and 79 degree Fah. is not that different. Is national identity not that big of deal, but if so, shouldn't the story behind the capital be more obvious?

Like I said, add pictures of Perth, surrounding mountain range, beach, etc. And continue to add opinions about everything.

This is probably the easiest way for me to show Perth!

Perth Link

And here .... actually I've never looked at these before! This site says Cottesloe Beach is a SAFE beach....too bad a guy got eaten by a great white there 2 years ago!!! Sheesh!!

Perth Rocks !!! I love the place, I have lived in and around Sydney most of my life but for 9 years I lived in Perth and loved it.

Laid back is probably an understatement everyone is so cool and relaxed just the best city to live in. We plan on retiring to Perth or some place in WA.

#1 Thankyou. I'm very proud of it myself.
#2 Yes it is. It is hard for me to discribe. For someone who has never been on a military base I'm sure it is very surreal. We are getting ready for deployment, so we are extremely busy right now. I probably won't be working much on my photography for a while, but I'll definitely be taking shots when I'm deployed.
I don't thinke we (creative people/photographers/?) strive against the federal government. I know there are disagreeable things happening, and everyone has a perspective on it. I know it might not be the answer you are looking for, but my position is that I support my Commander, my mission, and my Soldiers. If you still have questions on this PM me and we'll talk shop in another forum.

#3 You're right, but my answers are true. I wouldn't care if you cloned Jesus or Hitler, but I would definitely keep an eye on the latter.

this movie just made me think about something I read online once.. if I remember correctly a shorter version is a line that Jeff Goldblum says in the movie Jurassic Park

God creates the world
God creates animals
God creates men
men kill animals
men destroys the world
men stops believing in God and by that kills him
men create animals by cloning
men create other men by cloning
man rebuilds the world
man becomes God

I don't agree with cloning. Cloning is basically another way to avoid death and the acceptance of death. By cloning a dying family member, a pet, ourselves, or anything else we are trying to conquer mortality and I think that by doing this we would start to become immuned by the factor of death and once something DID happen we would fall apart because we weakened ourselves to the natural and inevitable process. Secondly I think that cloning is a terrible idea because, even if we were able to clone a human and produce the matching blood type, limb type, etc. we will eventually run across the contraversal subject of morals. It would be kind of like abortion. We can do it, but would this be fair to the clone? Can the clone have feelings? By taking the matching limb or organ to save one we distroy another. I do think it amazing that we have come so far in the studies of technology as to understand the cloning process, but I think it is a very bad idea.
