Brenda (also known at DPChallenge as BNC) and I took a day trip to Sedona last Thursday. This was my favorite, This was Brenda's favorite.
It was a little hazy so the long shots didn't turn out as well as we had hoped, I guess we will just have to go back.
You can see more Sedona photos here if you are interested.
Comments welcome.

I would have a very hard time picking a favorite between those two photos. They are both very good and have their own qualities. Very nice!

Number two doesn't suffer so much from the haze, and so looks like the bright sunny day I'd associate with Arizona. Also has clean, unobstructed layout with strong basic shapes.
Number one has more dramatic geology, but I think would have been better if shot from a few feet to the left,* so that tall tree would frame the opening to the far arroyo, instead of being framed by it. Then I'd play with tone curves to try and brighten it up just a little in the highlights.
*If there is someplace to stand over there, that is. |

OOOHHHH!! I HATE YOU!! (C:
I have to get my butt down there. Take a yearly "sabbatical" down that way every year to recharge my batteries. but, just started a new job....damn! I need to win the Lotto or Powerball, then I would finance trips like these.
Oh better check the tickets! I'll let you all know! LOL

Next time anyone heads out to Utah or environs--I'm always looking for an excuse to go wander around the desert or the mountains!
That reminds me: I've been wanting to go to Death Valley some time. Perhaps some of you California photographers could join me. I'll be going in August. Just kidding! But I do want to go there sometime. Perhaps we can plan a trip in the Fall or Winter?
By the way, Roger (and Brenda), I love both of those shots! Makes me itch to go down there!
