Just back from Orkney (Islands north of the Scottish mainland)

First of loads of pics to process co I didn't have any way of doing it there, just bought a laptop in frustration.

Anyway

This is the Italian Chapel built by Prisoners of War during WW2 while they were put to use building the Churchill Barriers across Scapa Flow to stop German U boats sneaking through. Loads of info on the net if you are interested.

Beautiful and moving little place.

Loads more Orkney pics to follow

The Orkney's are a great place. Did you get to Scara Brae and the Ring of Brodgar as well?

How was the crossing of the Pentland Firth?

These 3 B&W's are from the Broch of Birsay on the NW corner of the Orkney Mainland

The object is a whale skull that has been mounted on a post

Wonderful colours. The stones are great subjects for silhouette.

Assume you took the ferry from John O'Groates. Did you by any chance hike out to photograph Duncansby Stacks. One of my favorite photo sites in the world!
