Is it safe for the camera sensor to take a picture from a laser pointer aimed directly to the camera lens?

Shouldn't be a problem...that pointer can't be more powerful than the sun when you are taking a sunset photo...

I can't say if it would be bad for the sensor, but from what I do know about lasers I wouldn't even think of risking it just for a photo.

Try it with your camera and see if it frys the sensor :)

But, I suppose if you can sell the photo for more then the camera was worth it would be fine.

Hurro...

From experience with my 20D, getting laser light on the lens, but not pointing directly at it front on dosn't harm the sensor, but it did produce a weird photo! Didn't keep it unfortunately, but it was lens flare x 1000, in all different shades of pink & red..

Cheers, Me.
