Thank you for all the feedback, here is one of the best pictures I have taken so far with the Canon, ( it has been scaled down by 75%, the orignal is much sharper but also 3Mbs )

Looks like you got yourself a really great kit!
Definitely consider the 50mm 1.8 as you next lens. It is very cheap and everyone I have ever met either has one or wants one because of it's excellent optics.
Some people prefer the 35mm 2.0, but it is more than triple the cost, slower in F stop, and a little short for most people. 50mm evens out to around 80mm, which a lot of people feel is pretty close to the perfect portrait lens.
Great choice on the Sigma 75-300 as well. It's very affordable, but I've heard a lot of guys who shoot with it being very happy with the results. I hope you got the newer version.
Definitely consider getting that reverse mount ring for macro. Tons of people shoot the 100mm f2.8 Macro and add the 50mm 1.8 reversed for serious magnification. I'm sure you could get some really neat results with the 75-300 + a reversed 50.
If you like shooting bugs, don't forget that some can be placed in the freezer for a short while to make them much more docile for shooting and a spray mister can also be helpful in collecting bugs.
Have Fun! |
