Here's a shot I did back in early may. I just loaded it in my photoshop today. It was shot in Lachute a few days after I got my D70s. Edit consists of levels and an warming filter. It accentuated the light around Jesus.
Now I'm not really religious, I don't see one as being "The One" (I could say I'm atheist, existentialist at the most). But I do respect and see the good side of each. I think this is a really cool picture of one of those "Good Guy". Jesus, the man, I think was man with good moral values and I do see a point in educating those and why not, talk about the history of the man you are quoting. I mention this down to earth philosophy right away to answer does that might wonder why I do like talking shots of religious icones but I don't necessarely have an affiliation with it or at least it doesn't go further than that.
Anyways, all this babble to say I'm having a hard time choosing an appropriate title...
What do you think? |

I like those... I guess I was trying to give it to much meaning using too many words. Ahhh, simplicity, when everything else fails! ;-)
Feel free to comment on the actual picture too. |

As far as the picture you did a great job of capturing the statue of Jesus and I love the way you used the warming filter. The background element adds to the composition. The details within the statue is where the title suggestion came from. I would tell you in the forum but afraid the SC would move this thread to rant and I don't want that to happen. If you would like to know where I got the title PM me and I will tell you. |

You can discuss/mention religion, we just don't want people arguing about it here.
This is a photo of a religious subject, and a discussion of how well it does or does not convey certain information or feelings about that religion seem perfectly appropriate to me.
Personally, I put the copyright notice in the border, not over the photo. If you want to make it un-useful for image thieves, I thnk I'd rather see an unobtrusive watermark.
That golden glow usually seen around the heads of holy figures is called a nimbus; given the overall coloration, you could call it White Nimbus or possibly His Aura. |

See that's weird, that's what I tought first, "Aura" because it's the same in french, but I wanted to check and make sure of the spelling in english and wasn't in (cheap french/english dictionnary!) |

Scott, that was a very cool passage from the bible, especially the fact that it opens with "(...)The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon" that's cool. I don't mind reading passages of the bible, in fact I enjoy it alltough I take it with... hum... a grain of salt? (trying to avoid terms that would start a religious rant...)
But thanks for PM. That's cool that my picture reminded you so vividly of something you read and envisioned.
Peace! |

How about make it a photojournalism shot and use the caption:
"London Police stop a suspicious looking man entering the Underground near the church." ;-)

Kpriest nice one liner, but.....
"London Police capture a suspicious looking man. With his arms over his head, he was taken into custody. The suspect was caught entering the Underground near the church."
I could really use a drink.

OK, when we get to Jesus and Godzilla in the same thread we may just have to move this to the Rant section after all : ) |
