BBC Photographer of the Year 2005

Once again it's time to dust off your camera and put your skills to the test in our annual photography competition.

We'd like you to send in your photos on the themes listed
DEADLINE: THEMES
8 August - My family & friends
22 August - Fashion
5 September - Power
19 September - Work
3 October - Environment
17 October - Spaces
1 November - Final vote


OK All you DPCers - lets see if we can grab the prize

quick question:
can the photo you enter be taken at any point in time, or does it have to be in 2005..
just curious..

off topic - hey SC it would be nice to have a forum section dedicated to contests, i think its been mentioned before

I remember following the contest last year, never entered a pic... I will try to enter at least one pic for each theme **fingers crossed**

thanks for posting falc, lets see if a dpc-er can win this thing!

Lets hope they can see their way to increasing the image size of entries (doubtful) - very difficult to judge a photo at around 400 pixels.

What did you think of the standard of shortlisted/winning entries?

is this open only to brits, or shots taken in the uk? pardon my laziness for not reading the link ;-)

From the last paragraph before 'The legal stuff'
"ideally Jpegs with a height or width of around 800 pixels."

800px is the longest edge for submissions - that doesn't mean they will publish at 800px though. As for the standard, well I see just as good on DPC every week. I'm going to have trouble beating an acrobat and the London Eye ;-)

I don't think there is any rule that its only Brits, but I haven't read all the rules yet

Looking at last years entries I'd say it's open to all. I certainly cant recall seeing polar bears fighting in the snow over here recently ;)
