I have just borrowed the above lens off a friend at work which he says may be up for sale if offered the right price. So far I haven't had much of a chance to use it, but even the small amount of use I have had I am fairly impressed, below is a link to a picture I took the other evening, this has been very slightly cropped, levels adjust and resized, but the full size version is just as sharp (this was taken wide open at 2.8). How much do you think I should offer for this? I am on a pretty tight budget but would hate to let this lens get away. The lens is in immaculate condition.

On a different note, the Soft Focus feature is pretty useless, although I daresay back in the days of film only cameras (the lens is around 12 years old) it was fairly useful.

I also have been looking at this unique lens. It is intended for portrait work, the built-in soft focus feature is a traditional design dating to the 19th century when those types of lenses were highly prized. Vaseline and other kinds of filters seem to have taken over what it is designed to accomplish. I have heard that production has or is about to cease on this lens. Reviews of the lens at fredmiranda.com indicate that users of the lens seldom utilize the SF. It appears that the lens can be purchased new for less than $300.

I've had one of these lenses for about a year! I picked it up cheap second hand! It does give pretty nice results. Unfortunately the auto focus on mine plays up and unless you're working outdoors it doesn't always find somewhere to lock on! The soft focus feature works well but, like any soft focus, it has to suit the picture. It is a nice looking soft focus though! If it's been offered at a good price it may come in handy for you.

This photo here was taken with this lens.

Fred Miranda and his subscribers give some nice feedback on this lens at Canon EF 135mm f/2.8 with Softfocus.
