Hi I have been hanging around this site for a couiple of months- just quietly in the background.I am now ready to participate a bit more albiet nervously!I may even join as a member very soon. But for now I need your help on how to post some photos in a thread for your comments.Thanks in advance.

you have to be a paid member to add photos to your porfolio

ohhh and can you only post photos in a thread from a portfolio?

You can post links to photos on other sites.

If you want to post images it's best to post a thumbnail sized image in the forum that links to your larger image. Large images in the forum are not friendly to dial up users.

Check out the tutorial on how to post images in the forum.

Try reading this tutorial... I think it will tell you what you need to know. I'm not sure how to do it myself, as I always just post from my portfolio. Hope it's helpful! :)

Thanks for all your comments. I dont have photos anywhere but on my computer!! Guess I will have to wait till I become a paid member.

I have images here as well as on another site. Here's a sample using an image on the other site.

I am really new at this obviously there are websites that can"host" your photos that then I could link to forum threads. Am i right? If so what are some good ones and do they cost? I will get around to becoming a paid member here soon!

Webshots is free and if just want something until you become a paid member you could post there.

pBase and smugmug are other image hosting sites but I think there's a fee for those.

Here's a couple I found searching Google.

Image Shack I know I've seen a few people use this site while posting here.
Photo Bucket as well as here.

I've personally never used them so I'm not sure about their dependability, but it's someplace to start looking. :-)

Welcome to the addiction that is dpc Charlie :)) Wait till you enter a challenge and discover the update button.......now that is seriously addictive!!

To post a pic on the thread just copy and paste the image number at the end of the url of the photo. Click on the right end little box above the reply notepad, and paste the image number into the box. If not sure if you've done it right, have a look at the preview first.

Can anyone help keep it sinmple like! I have found the tutorial but I'm afraid that is gobbleygook to me! I have found the properties by right clicking on my image but what do do next? ny help would be much appreciated
