Does it make a difference what order the lenses and the filters are in? In other words, [would lens, filter, camera] produce the same shot as [filter, lens, camera]?
I hope this makes sense.

filters usually attach to the outside of a lense so it would be filter, lense, camera.

Is your question related to sandwiching the filter between the adapter and a teleconverter or wide angle converter?
I've done this on my G3 since the converters have no filter threads.
I don't think it should matter since the filter is altering the light entering the camera. I would just be careful with this method if you are stacking the filters. Focus may become rather soft as the converter is pushed further away from the camera than it was designed for.

Why Canon built their converters that way I don't know. As long as you're using only one filter at a time you should not have a problem.
