Which of these two do you prefer? Or do you think neither is effective? Or the first rotated 90 deg clockwise? Thanks

i'd say the horizontal is better, but it needs something.. maybe try playing with the saturation to give it more punch.

Both are a good perspective. In western culture we view things from left to right. In that regard the second image feels better.
In other cultures where this is not the norm image number one could feel better.
