My new neighbor has been letting this grow in his yard this year.
After the recent rain it now stands like 6ft (183cm) tall.
Soon will be growing over my shed, Ugh.
Any help on what it is would be apricated , I may be evil but i'd love to tell him its a weed and he should cut it !!
Thanks in advance

My Father in Law is always out picking Poke salad when spring starts. He'll take my son out and they'll hunt for it (not hard, it grows like crazy all around our woods). He's been eating this stuff forever. But we're always telling our son, "Don't let papa feed you any of that Poke salad!!" It's become a family joke now. I personally haven't eaten it and won't ... but that's just me. Not into eating weeds. :-D

You would think they would have a better picture of it in the article. Can hardly see it.

just a little correction - It is Poke SALLET not salad.
(sallet is old english that roughly translates to "cooked salad)
If you eat this sucker raw you the linign of your digestive system will tear out - not literally, but almost - you don't want to know!!

Also, poke sallet is technically the dish, not the plant :)

Phytolacca decandra or Phytolacca americana

from you local active exbihitor at the Harlan coutry (50th annual) Poke Sallet Festival ;)
