I was searching for some cameras and came across the Canon S2 which i think is the camera everyone was telling me about, but...i have found in my search that this camera has the ability to attach different lenses?? i thought someone said that you couldnt do that with point & shoot?

It is not an SLR and you can not attach Canon EF lenses.

However, as with many P&S cameras you can attach a wide (0.75x WC-DC58A) or tele converter lens(1.5x TC-DC58B) onto the end of the fixed lens for expansion of the range. They are available separately.

You can actually attach any wide or teleconverter that has 58mm thread. The two Rich mentioned were designed to work with the S2 so they are optimal. You can also attach filters and lens hoods to it.

YOu need to get the adapter tube first though, and they run about $30.

edit damn typos...

With an adapter (usually screws into threads near the lens) you add telephoto and Wideangle lens to some P&Sers. Many manufactures make special lens for these cams and then there are a lot of budget (bad idea) add-ons on ebay that can be put on P&Sers.

My Powershot Pro1 with added teleconvertor (just under $200)
