Sports require special shoes. If you don't need to change your shoes, it is not a sport! They have street shoes on so no its not a sport.

It's in the same league as golf. ;P

Chess itself is considered a sport... I saw it on ESPN. Then again I saw scrabble on ESPN2. However... chess is the largest sport in the world, even bigger than soccer. (FIDE is huge)

edit: see later post for correction!!!

I would think it is more a game than a sport. BUT I would think if they show it on TV it is considered a sport (chess is on TV and ESPN/ESPN2). If you can read about it in the sports section, it is a sport (Scrabble Championship results are posted in teh sports section). If Sports Illustrated shows half naked shots of the women participants, it is a sport (never seen a half naked or fully naked chess player - man or woman). If Bryant Gumball talks about it on Real Sports, it is a sport (never heard him talk about chess although he did talk about Bobby Fischer a while back).

Chess is the biggest sport in the world? NO WAY!!!

I know I just snapped that shot of the girls playing chess but should I be at higher ground to get a full effect? Hmmmm... I really doubt I'll be able to take a trip out there again :( Oh well..

Nice Picture, I especially like the composition by the way.

I'm just getting my harsh scoring method sorted out for this challenge. No foot wear change gets a 1-3, real sports 5-7, any shots that focus on sports shoes get a 10.

It my not be right or correct, but it is part of DPC.

(please note I'm JOKING)

If I could only clone out the other people in the frame :) I think it's too distracting. I do like the look of the girl to the right. Decision time.

Whether or not it is a sport is a matter of opinion in my book. I think the important thing is this: Do you think it is a sport? If so, do you feel you have a photo that portrays it's inner essence and makes you feel all fuzzy when you look at it?
If the answer to either is no, move on. If you answered yes to both, submit it. The only one you really ever have to impress is yourself. Period. You can take that statement anywhere.

No! I like it as it is... I like the relation with the people and the lamps hanging. It's not distracting, it adds depth.
