Alright Mag. Very informative.
OK it's time you remove that E-10 under your name, and replace it with the 10-D. You are the most visible member of TEAM 10D!

:-) Actually I think my 10D might be suffering from some autofocus inaccuracies if I were to do a ruler test :) (only at wide angle) but nothing that is worrisome.

I *still* havent gotten my ruler shot done .. I feel like such a loser :( >>> ...
OK, Jacko, I guess it's time to change the camera under my name. I just didn't want my E-10 to think I didn't love it anymore. But I haven't used it in over a month, so I guess that's saying something ....

It's a way of testing if your camera is front or back focusing. You choose a shallow Depth of Field and focus on the number 6, for example. If your camera is calibrated properly the 6 will be in focus, if not it'll focus in front or in back of the 6.
When the Canon 10D came out, some people were convinced that they were faulty, and proving their point by taking pictures of rulers The article is poking fun at the people who were obsessed with testing their new camera, as opposed to taking nice pictures. I followed the whole thing on DPRview.com because I was seriously considering buying a 10D.
I'm happy to report that I have no focusing problems. No regrets so far. Anyone want to buy my collection of wood, plastic, and metals rulers? I don't need them anymore. ;)

I don't get it either. Is it a 10D inside joke?

if u go on sites like dpreview.com forums, they are TOTALLY saturated with people worried their cam doesn't focus like it should and doing ruler test after ruler test with shallow depth of field to see if their cams are like 1 mm off in the most extreme conditions. this is a HUGE epidemic with the 10D. thread after thread - "I photographed my ruler today and the cam's autofocus was a millimeter off!"
This has spawned terms like "measurbator", which is a person that doesnt actually use their cam to take real pics, but really just tests it in these non-realworld conditions.
