I just received this:
"For this contest everyone who has the word âcircleâ in their title is getting a lower score. This is a copy and paste version that I am including in every photo that I downgrade due to the title. We as members of DPchallenge know the topic of the challenge â we do not need to reread the topic every time we reach a photo. If circle is in the title and it is appropriate I will most likely not down grade, but it better be good. I am sorry if you do not agree with my method of protest â but scores are all I have. (For you the title works - good job)"

Do YOU agree with this "Method of protest", or would you say this is the comment from the south end of a north-bound donkey? (As I do.)

You are not alone.

I think it is wrong, we are supposed to judge the IMAGE not the title. I too got down graded once for using all caps in my title. Love these types of people.

I agree that (on occaision) some entries rely on the title to meet the challenge. In these cases I would not mark down because of the title, but because the photo does not itself meet the challenge.

It is crazy to mark someone down for mentioning the challenge title in the photo title, as on many occaisions this will be the logical approach!

It can of course cross into 'dangerously' gray areas... e.g.
challenge: 'Best Friends'
Photo: picture of a doggy
Title: 'Man's best friend'

Without the title, might not look immediately like a challenge meet. With the title... well voter decides. (in my case yes!)

well i kind of agree, the title should complement the picture but its only a complement. the photo should be able to stand on its own and the title should be just the cherry on top. what about pictures (everywhere) that dont have titles? if they are good we still like them and admire them. or do we discard them as lesser photos for not having a title?.. at any rate. if you feel like helping someone out with your critique visit my portfolio i could use the help.
