I just used the Canon custom functions in my 350 for the first time (well, I've only had it a few weeks).

Thanks to someone in another thread (sorry, I can't find it anymore to say a proper thanks), I am now able to put focus lock on the AE lock button! I think this is much better than the default because I can lock the focus using the center point, recompose, and then shoot. With the defaults, it refocuses unless you keep the shutter half pressed the whole time.

I think I will leave it in this mode as the "default". Does anyone else keep this in this mode most of the time? Is there an easy way to program a one or two button click to get it to switch between the two modes? (If so, you don't need to explain the whole thing--just give me a lead and I'll look up the procedure.)

Thanks for the tip on the custom functions. Maybe it will save my shutter button from wearing out prematurely (I am wondering if holding it down so much could shorten it's life!)

Side Note: I sure wish they'd fix the search functions or give us a bigger list of our own posts. I can never find an old post to follow up, unless I put them all on watch!

Regards--Neil
