I've sent a message through the "Contact" feature of the site. Plus I posted a message in the Members forum last night (which I can longer access now) but I have not heard a thing. Perhaps all members of the SC are on vacation?

Two days ago I renewed my membership via PayPal. I thought it would be immediate. Apparently there is a delay in the process. When I go to the PayPal site, it indicates that it expects the payment to be processed on July 12th. Had I known this, I would have simply paid with a credit card. But I don't really want to pay twice...

Anyway, now that my membership expiration date has passed, the problem is three-fold:

1) I've spent hours upon hours voting and commenting in the macro challenge. I see, as of this morning, that my votes no longer count.

2) Plus, I have my own entry in the macro challenge. Luckily it looks like it is still being voted on this morning. But I worry that it may become disqualified as the voting finishes due to my current "expired" status.

3) Finally, I don't know the status of my portfolio, but as of this moment it appears to be missing.

Please: The paypal "check is in the mail" so-to-speak. Could you simply extend my membership until July 12th while waiting for paypal to finish the process? It would be greatly appreciated.

Oops, there is a 4th issue: I have an entry submitted in the family challenge which no longer appears to be there.

Again, all of this is a mix-up in how paypal processes the payment because if I had paid with a credit card it would have already been processed two days ago.

If it were myself and I was spending as much time on this $25.00 thing as you appear to already have I would just pay it again - use my credit card and be done with it - I am sure if you account has a positive balance they will just apply it to next years. I am not sure if a credit card will still get it done in time now .... but you never know...

You can only try and hope for the best :) good luck

I would not worry about your portfolio, once my membership expired and I left it about a week before I renewed. Portfolio was restored.

Unfortunately, I think only the admins can help you. SC members don't have access to any of the account info.

But, I thought if you had a balance in your PayPal account, the credit would be immediate; by any chance were you having to fund the PayPay account from your bank to cover the transaction? Otherwise, this calls to attention a problem with our system; a renewal reminder a few weeks before expiration might help.

If your Paypal transaction hasn't been processed yet, just cancel it.

You know what... that just makes too much sense! :-)

OKAY, I can relax now. I sent a $5 payment for a 1-month membership and that appears to have processed immediately.

Here's what I think happened:

- On my PayPal account (which I have only rarely ever used), the credit card I had used to secure the account expired back in February of this year.
- However, they still had my checking account information.
- So, when I performed the DPC transaction, it used my checking account as the funding source and that is why there is a several day delay period, waiting for the funds to come from the bank.

I just now replaced my credit card account information in paypal with current information. Renewed with DPC and the paypal funds transfer with the credit card was immediate.

Note to self: Next time, just renew well in advance! :-)

P.S.
And the good news is ... portfolio is back online, macro voting appears to be intact, macro submission has an "update" button again, and my family submission is still there.

I let my membership expire when I was pregnant with my son and did not come back for almost a year, perhaps a little more, anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to find my portfolio fully intact upon renewing my membership!

Way to go -- have a great time, and watch out for those black bears they've been posting in the other two threads!

I think that's one reason they don't purge old accounts ... welcome back : )

dwterry: glad it was a simple fix!

...

...

Alan love- vacation means not logging into DPC every five minutes to hit the update button. :)

Clara- this brings new meaning to the phrase working vacation.

Okay, break it up. Crisis is over. There's nothing to see. Move along. :-)
