I just joined a new STOCK site at gimmestock.com looks like it maybe a good one to start uploading to! It was already in HOW Magazine!

They emailed me to join - it looked like they stole the istock or dreamstime or something list.

You're saying that they hacked into their competitor's computers? You really should report this because it's a very serious offence.

lol Stealing email addresses/user list doesn't require hacking and yes, I think they emailed a whole lot of Shutterstock/Istock photographers - which IS a serious offense!

So how exactly did they steal these lists? If it didn't require any hacking then I would be seriously worried about trusting Shutterstock/Istock with any personal info as they are not looking after your data properly. Dunno about the states, but that's a serious offence over here in itself.

As for emailing "a whole lot of Shutterstock/Istock photographers", why not email them all if they have stolen the lists? Could "a whole lot of Shutterstock/Istock photographers" not have got their email addresses onto a marketing list which somebody is now selling?

So why do you not like this new site?

yeah, the site has a nice design. I wonder how many micro payment sites the net can handle?

Do you have invested insterest in this site bod? ...

You're making assumptions based on my first post - I am a member. They seem to have NOT emailed DPC'ers so much as other stock photographers. They got a list somewhere - I'm sure they didn't just email everyone who's first initial was M. :)

How about giving us a few details? like how much they pay per download? how much you have to earn before you get a payout? any restrictions on file size? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, you would think that they would have that information on the site, say in a FAQ maybe?

Sorry, I'm in one of *those* moods today ; )

anyways the site looks nice and im gonna sign up!

edit - who wants my referal? first person to post a referal number or link gets it.

argh when will you guys start sellin your pics for more than 5 files to a candy bar?
i know a lot of people say theyre images just sit on the hard drive not doin anything, if u spend a little time you could make real money off the photos.

Those Candy Bars are paying for my New Canon 20D with 17-85mm lens...So I think it is great!

And I don't think Gimmestock has referals!

before trying to regester, wait a while as their servers are down.
they say due to the influx of images and new members.
looks like this thread has made them many new members.
I am one of them earlier today and were able to get 5 images uploaded, just need some more once they have changed their servers and migrated the current stock.
Thanks
Ben

Some of their information is less than brilliantly laid out; however once you finally get to see the image upload agreement (which, as far as I can see, you only see when you're at the point of uploading...) it does indeed specify that it's a non-exclusive deal.
