I'm away from home and using someone else computer. Am using ps elements 2.0 to do editing. Can I use the Enhance->Adjust lighting->fill flash in Basic Editing. And I can't find the curves!!!

There are no curves! That was one reason I sprung for the upgrade recently, that and the ability to edit raw files. Good luck!

Thanks Ray. Do you know....is adjusting the lighting using fill flash legal for basic editing?

Sue, I believe that it is because you are adjusting the entire photo instead of spot editing. Please, s/c or anyone, help out here and confirm or rebut this! I would hate for you to get dq'd on my erroneous advice!

Ben, There is a link to the Adobe website where you can upgrade from Elements that came bundled with your camera to CS-2 for about $100. Well worth it IMO, since CS-2 normally costs about $600 off the shelf, I believe. Let me look and see if I can find that link for you.

Ben, The only link I can find sets the upgrade price at a whopping $499 instead of the $99 I recently paid. I'm certain, too, that when I upgraded it said that the offer was good through Sept. 2005. For what it's worth, here's the link. Hope this is of some help.

I suggest you post before/after examples (if you put them in your Workshop folder bno one will see them and send a not to 2-5 sc members with a description of what you/the adjustment did.

From the name, it sounds like it could be illegal for basic because it will selectively adjust different parts of the photo, even though you don't make a selection yourself. But, I haven't used it, so I don't know for sure.

PE2 does have the curves adjustment, it's just hidden. Check out the book The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 2. It costs a lot than upgrading to CS at any price. And there is a newer edition for PE3.
