Ghost Wildfire Gallery

This gallery shows the effects of one small wildfire on desert flora. Wildfires in the western USA have become pandemic over the last several years charing hundreds of thousands of acres in Arizona alone.

Some Arizona wildfires of note:
Cave Creek Complex, 2005 - 248,000 acres - Arizona's second largest wildfire ever

Chediski-Rodeo, 2002 - 467,000 acres - Arizona's largest wildfire ever

Willow, 2004 - 119,000 acres

Amazing image....took me a moments to understand what it was.

Sad about the loss of the Saguaros....amazing cacti and it takes them so long to grow....

It is true. Saguaros generally live to be about 200 years old and is 70 years old before it grows it's first arm.

The Cave Creek Complex fire, which is still not quite contained as we speak, did this:
Cave Creek fire claims world's largest saguaro!
