HEY!!! You rebel, you looked. Well now that you're here maybe you can help. I shot a few pictures for a friend for a hair styling competition. I was just having fun with some of my first portraits and trying to figure out how to create the soft diffused look. I've seen some awesome portraits that are very diffused yet bright and luminous at the same time. I couldn't figure out how do it in PS. Any help? Here's the pic.

just my opinion but I think the soft focus and zoom blur would take away from the hair unless placed just right. In the second picture your eye is drawn straight to hers. If these are going to be used in the competition I'm not sure if that is the effect you want. If they are for fun then that is ok.

There are a lot of filters in there like soft focus and such, usually it is best to create a second layer and work off that then use your amount of transparancey to blend them together.
