It's been a bad week

On Sunday a dear friend passed away

Today all the Horror of mindless, cowerdly thugs unlease carnage and terror in my Country.

Tomorrow my grandson is coming to stay with us for the weekend.

What's my point?

Life will continue as normal, as ever.

If these mindless, evil people think they can change my/our way of Life, they way we Live, what we believe in, then they are sorely mistaken.

May the poor souls who lost their lives today rest in peace. My thoughts will be with them and their loved ones.

Mike, terribly sorry for all your losses. It's a terrible thing.

BUT, it SHOULD change us. Not that you should walk around with tinfoil on your head incase the Russians are zapping your brain with satellites, or carry a gas mask in case the subway is bombed with mustard gas, BUT us canadian, americans, and brits, etc should care more about the people around us on a daily basis.

50,000 people died in africa today and most people don't give a shit.

That's probably an obscure point for this thread - but it's a point none the less.

If you mean that this act, or any similar terrorist act, should change our behaviour towards the world's wretched and disadvantaged, you're wrong. Pitifully, dangerously wrong. To allow terrorism to shape our values is an act of cowardice even greater than the commission of the terrorist act itself. Moreover, we will inevitably discover that this act was not perpetrated on behalf of the poor African people to whom you refer. Those who did this were motivated by fanatical self-interest. They care for nothing more.
