A friend of mine just reminded me (paraphrased slightly):
Most of us have little or no control over how we will die, but we do have some control over how we choose to live.
Never was a truer word spoken.
We can do our best to influence others, to change things for the better, to help others and all the rest.
But all we can really CONTROL is our own behaviour, our own choices and our own beliefs.

Very sage advice. And I am glad to see you were not among the casualties today.

Very true. How about to add back a bit of positive energy into the world, we have a "Random Act of Kindness" day tomorrow?
Hold a door open, let someone into traffic who's trying to get in, give out a compliment, make a donation to a local charity, etc. Doesn't have to be anything big, but I believe any little bit helps.
Anyone with me? Or will I once again be the dreaded thread killer? ha! |

Do you know what, I try and do things like this every day and it's not because I'm an especially nice person. I do it for selfish reasons! I LIKE people smiling at me, I like to do things that are so simple to do but cause others to smile. Who wouldn't?
It's one of those things that I think people can so easily enact every single day.

This is why I've always been one to do the things I wanna do when I want to do them because you never know what tomorrow may bring. Times like this make it clear that you should always live life to the fullest and not hold back. Be a little impulsive, take risks, don't procrastinate because you may never get another chance. Tell your loved ones how much you really love them and never go to bed angry or mad at them because if something should happen you'll never forgive yourself. This all may sound cheesy but it's true, live as if every day was your last cause one day it will be and you won't even see it coming.

Hi there, I got your message and tried to contact your friend but... most of the mobile networks are overwhelmed by volume of calls and the various networks are limiting calls too to allow emergency services to contact each other more easily.
LBS is in Regent's Park area so not directly in the area of the incidents today. Unless he regularly travels on the underground lines mentioned I am sure he's fine, just caught in the chaos and unable to make or receive calls on his mobile phone.
Hang tight, I'm sure he'll contact you.
I'll try and call him for you later too.
Kavey

I do a Random act of kindness every day also....whether its a call to a friend to say something nice....listening to a car not starting and pulling up with my jumper cables...handing someone the money they're short on a grocery order.... telling a manager how fantastic an employee of theirs is in front of them...holding a door open for anyone... it only takes a moment... makes them feel like gold... makes my heart sing...
There are lots of things you can do as a kindness. just ask in return that they pass it on...

It's good to know people are living their lives this way every day.
I have written letters to companies more than once about a particular employee who has given me service I think deserves to be recognised and they are almost like "you're complaining about what? you're not complaining. right. so why did you bother contacting us with this?!". You'd think they appreciate someone letting them know good things about their team for a change and use it as an excuse to reward that person in some way!!!
So, hopefully, lots of people will join in with rscorp's suggestion to perform some extra random acts of kindness tomorrow and in coming days and weeks?

When you do your random act of kindness (hopefully more than one) and someone says thank you :) smile nicely.... and whisper... "pass it on"
and when someone does an act of kindness to you .... smile and say .... thank you :)and whisper "I'll pass this on" :) |

there is a number for anyone to call if they are worried about friends or relatives.
The number is 0870 1566344 this is from inside the UK.
The UK dialing code if +44.
the other option is to call new scotland yard and they may be able to help.
Tony has just been on the News condeming this act of terrorism and say that he and the security services are doing and carry on doing everything they can to bring the people who did this to justice.
i live in nottingham about 150miles North of London and we are only just getting trains back into us from London, a long journey for most people.
I hope all our London Friends and their families are Ok.

Anyone who doesn't do these things commits a Random Act of Blindness every day in my view. |

I think I'd of guessed this about you Kavey just from your posts and your picture.
Kindness is often in short supply. Today I hope it's value is increased a million times.
Heartbreaking events today. |

Ah... sorry... in that case it is sad we've created a world where we perform few random acts of kindness until AFTER people are compelled to commit senseless brutality. We need to get our priorities in order.
