I'm in my hometown of San Diego at the moment, on a 3 week road trip around California. Yesterday we spent the day at the zoo, and I've just added a few animal photos to my Nature gallery. I'd appreciate any comments or ratings you'd care to leave! I sure wish there weren't cages to shoot through, but better that than to be mauled by a jaguar :)

Look for pics soon from Vegas (okay, not California but couldn't come west without hitting Vegas, baby!), Yosemite, and the coast. We're having a ball, and I've just discovered the wonders of shooting raw. Woot!

A fine set of pictures Andi, sharp and clear, great colours, I like the ones through the bars anyway, good job.

Nice Zoo photos, BTW, I'll be there in SD next week for the Comic-Con. The boys will be in the convention and my partner and I will explore SD for 5 days. I'll make sure to bing my telephoto to the Zoo.

Wow! Sooo much better than I've ever done at the SD Zoo. Truly, you are quite a good photographer. Some day, I hope to reach your level of compositional capability!!

Try the Wild Animal Park instead...you won't be disappointed. Unless of course your going to see the Panda(s) and Polar Bears they don't have those at the WAP, you can get up close and personal at WAP.

Great photos Andi - I love the one of the Koala! :-)

I have pretty good luck with my images from the Phoenix Zoo - the displays are fairly well open there. I was really excited when we planned a trip to the SD Zoo a few years ago since there are many more animals and it is considerably larger. It didn't take me long to get pretty disappointed since it seems just about every one of them was behind a cage or glass.

Thank you so much for the compliments! And thank you all. I had visions of getting shots like this one:

But of course SD Zoo just doesn't make that possible. I've been to the WAP many times, but not since being a photographer. May have to try that on my next visit to SD :)

Thank you all!
