This was one that I considered entering into the circles challenge very briefly, but it's really just another macro shot of a wet rose petal. I really, really like this one myself, but know that it's not the type to do very well with voters, so I thought I'd post it this way for some comments. It was edited within the basic constraints, so noise is still present and there's no dodging and burning or anything.
I'd really like some feedback on this (not necessarily on the photo as a circle entry, but as a photo in general). Thanks! |

First off let me say you have some wonderful pictures in your portfolio. And it seems to me that you like low-key and B&W photography. However on this picture I don̢۪t connect to it like I do to most of your other photographs. I like the low-key but seem to be too much negative space and the composition to me could be improved. The best thing going for this photograph is the water droplets and the texture. But both take up a very small portion of the photograph. A little editing to bring out the texture and water droplets would probably do wonders for those two elements but I feel the composition still would need some work. I hope I did not offend you in any way with my comment, it was intended to be constructive and I hope you take it that way. This is how I see the photograph, what you see and feel is what counts. And believe me when I say this, looking at your work you should be giving me advise not me giving it to you. Keep up the great work. I hope you don̢۪t mind but I̢۪m adding you to my favorites.

No offense taken whatsoever. Everybody's different; that's why I asked for some feedback :) You've probably noticed that I have a thing for "V" shapes in semi-abstracts - not sure why, exactly, but something about that is pleasing to me personally. It was actually composed and cropped that way on purpose.. I like contrasting large negative spaces against heavily textured subjects :)
On the contrary, I appreciate your taking the time to leave a nice, thoughtful bit of feedback. Constructive criticism is nice to have!
And thanks for the favourites addition! |
