Sigma 28-80mm Macro F3.5 (for a Nikon d70)
Is this a good macro lens?

It's not really a macro lens at all, but a standard zoom lens with close focusing ability.
Edit:
At least this one does go to 1:2 magnification, which actually makes it close to a true macro lens. This means that you can get colse enough to make something about 2 inches (50mm) across fill the frame.
A true macro lens goes to 1:1 magnification, so an object 24mm wide would fill the frame.

BTW, if you can find one, these only go for about $70 USD, so little use in buying used unless it is REALLY cheap.
