To appease all those who say the challenge descriptions are not descriptive enough, I propose the following:

Challenge title: Dogs

Challenge description: Photograph a male cocker spaniel, 3-5 years old. He should be sitting, lined up along the right thirds line with his head facing to the viewer's right. His right eye should be at the top right intersection of thirds. He should be panting. The background should be natural-colored muslin. The shot should be lit from either side of the photographer using a total of 2 500w work lamps. Each lamp should be 36 inches (91 cm) from the photographer and 56 inches (142 cm) from the ground. The photograph should be taken in a landscape orientation and cropped to 640x480. Be creative and have fun!

-Terry

But.. natural colored means what cj? beige, cream, sand, ... or can I use an number of colors made naturally from my local flora?
Just a question. :P
OH! And I think cocker spaniels should be buff color with spots on their nose. All other color variations will get a 1 from me

Would he have to be a pure bred male cocker spaniel? Ive seen one in the neighborhood, but he may have a little poodle in him....lol

I think it should be the most popular breed of dog known, the Mutt. It should be part Boarder Collie and Jack Russell Terrier, laying lazyily in it's own back yard with the sun shining brightly on it. Hehehe I like the idea of a Dog Challenge followed by a cat challenge.

I don't like dogs. All dog images will get a 1 vote from me.

Yes. You MUST post a link to a scan of the pedigree papers in the "Photographer Comments" field.

I've updated the challenge description for our non-US participants. Please accept my apologies for the oversight.

Does it have to be a live cocker, or can I use a stuffed animal set up in the approxiamate manner described.

Could you "define" natural background? Because natural for me would be to have a couple smiling kids watering a beautiful flower that's in a clear, glass pot. Now would flooring be part of the background? Because I have b&w checkered floor, that resembles a chess board.

How about a male child 3-5 years old dressed up as a cocker spaniel. Sitting, lined up along the right thirds line with his head facing to the viewer's right. Oh and he'd be holding a flower in his mouth too.

I'd like to desaturate everything but the dog's tongue, which I will jack up to be an unnaturally bright pink.
