To all of you who commented on this, thanks! I think the entire situation sucks male appendage, but thanks for helping me see why it sucks male appendage.

To anyone who wonders what image I was talking about, it was this picture (//www.mikasiphotography.com/MAM.html - still on my web page where it is conspicuously NOT for sale) and to those who wondered it was the interior of the Milwaukee Public Museum.

For my part I am more than a bit mad. I can see how this could easily be taken to even more silly extremes so that every dogshit town in America copyrights its pitiful image in an attempt to pay its waterbill via the pockets of any clod visiting in possession of a camera or a pencil and paper.

Geezuz... Anyhow, thanks again ya'll.

It is a beautiful photo. Can you sell it to the Museum?

easy link
feel free to blow off and vent here, but when you are calmer, you still might want to go talk to them about working something out (maybe donate some of the proceeds to the museum fund?). it is a nice image, AND, even if they can prevent you from selling it, they CANNOT sell it themselves, without your written permission...when you gave it to them, it was a gift for display--unless in writing, you cannot transfer copyright (which means they are not free to copy it, sell copies of it, etc.). good luck, and hope you can find a win-win in there somehow.

Let's keep this all together in the original thread.
