as we all know 4th of July is quickly approaching, perhaps a firework challenge? but not really fair to members in other countries, since they don't celebrate independence day

Gee,,,,,,,,too bad we all don't live in the USA huh. Oh well, it would reduce the number of entries to something more manageable, and the submitters might actually get some comments on their efforts.

Who says you have to live in the US to take a photo of fireworks? You guys have Canada Day right. No fireworks there? If not go buy some and take a photo.

You do realise, that there are other countries in the world besides USA and Canada, right?

you forgot Iceland, our independance day is june 17. but we can't shoot fireworks on that day since we do not have any darkness from may 15 until september 15.

around july 1 there is daylight 24 hours a day, it's now 8:40 PM and the sun is shining high in the sky.. hard to put the kids to bed when there is no night ;)

we have a great firework show in late september when darknes starts creeping in, and another one on the last day of the year.. then about 90% of the country's population shoots up fireworks for millions of $$$.
something foreigners come to Iceland to experience, one of our main attraction in the wintertime :)

Yes indeed we do have Canada day...it just went by, so we would not quality for a 4th of July type of festivity. As for buying fireworks... considering how dry it is up here... not the best of ideas.

I have no problem with this type of challenge,,, and as I said previously it might make it more manageable... unlike the almost 500 plus entries we have seen in recent challenges.

Keep a waterhose nearby......only problem is if it lands on someone's house.

This site is based in the USA...and I would imagine the majority of its members are living in the USA. I see nothing wrong with having a special challenge lasting this whole weekend on fireworks...although it would probably get borring voting on 200 of the same exact image with a few different ones here and there.

2 month fireworks free challenge?

Why not make it a Freedom challenge, could also fit the Live8 stuff (no poverty is also a kind of freedom).

Freedom of religion, nationality, appearance, education, living with whom you want to live with etc etc.

Freedom in the broadest sence, isn't that independence?

how about if we just show the firework pics we got in 2005 we can link to them or put them on DPC.. like this...
We have lots of members in others countries. To be fair this would be the best way to show our work
