I did a senior photo yesterday. I love to get your feed back on a couple of the shots please.

I think this is my favorite from the day. Given that it was 90 degrees at 5:00 pm and we were dodging the direct sun most of the time -- I was just hoping that she didn't look melted!

The sun came out just we as we were shooting these so I ended up with hot spots on her arm and leg.

I'm not sure the gardens appreciated me putting her in the middle of the flowers but they were too tempting to pass up. This was the most beautiful place.

Thanks for the feedback -- Debi

They are lovely shots, especially the last two, she is beautifully framed by the surroundings, great work!

I like them. The pink flowers in the first one do bug me though. They draw you in and then they are out of focus.

I like them all!! But the first and third ones especially. She has a nice relaxed, but pleasant look on her face. The colors and lighting look very nice. I think she'll be very happy to have these :-)

I like the first one the best. Although it looks posed she looks the most relaxed and natural. The second just looks too posed and not natural at all considering the setting. The third I like as well. In the middle of the gardens makes it look more natural, but she doesn't. She looks like she is uncomfortable and waiting for the picture to be taken. Just my opinion.

Overall the shots are good. Even in the second you controilled the light well. Your distance from the subject appears good based on how much body you show - subject/surroundings ratio.

My favorite of the three is the last one. I think it's composed well, great lighting, colors and framing. I think all of them are great and she'll be very happy with any of those.

This looks like a truly beautiful place.

I think the scene and technical side is great in all three.

However, she has a very uncomfortable look in her face in 2 and 3; #1 has the best "presentation" of her, IMHO.

Great shots, I really like the 1st and 3rd shots. The second just doesn't feel as right.

nice shots - i'm not crazy about the facial expression in shot 3.

but the lighting/setting is very nice.

ps. what exactly is a 'senior' portrait? (sorry, i know its a stupid question but always curious)

Senior, referring to the last year of highschool. Kind of about the time a kid becomes an adult.

Their last year in high school the schools let the kids put in a more personal photo in the yearbook, rather than the typical mug shot the schools take.

Thanks for all the feedback. It's very helpful. One thing I've noticed as I'm working on the photos is that she's got one eye that is noticeably smaller than the other. Unfortunately, it's not the one she covered with her hair. Has anyone else had this problem?

I think they're great, I like 1 and 3 best with 1 being my favorite. The flowers are gorgeous, but the second one looks like its more about the scenery than the girl. I think she will be thrilled with them though.

I don't really think theres a problem with them looking "posed" as Senior portraits and school portraits are posed. Some photos just are!

Anyways, great work!
