Looks like it could be one of six versions of that lens that Nikon has made...

I have this lens. it is newer than the one in RebAl's picture. I think his is one series prior to this one. This one was last made in 1997 (I think) I bought mine for 450.00
...BTW this lens is great! All of these have great glass and can be had for less than half the price of a new one. I have looked at several versions at a shop that buys old gear. I just need to learn to capture a decent photo...
