I live near the Torrance Nikon office so am able to drive over and get my camera cleaned when I need to.
What do the people without close access do to get their D70 clean? I'll be moving and am curious.

I have yet to figure that out after six months... I haven't looked into it though and am fairly careful.

Well, I often have to clean my CCD since I do a lot of long exposure shots and switch lens often.
Basically, what I do is to be sure to be in a clean dry environnement. Then lock up the mirror, and user a manual air blower to remove any dust from the CCD. Nikon support advise again using compressed air on the CCD. Of course it's better to point the camera downward.
Since I do that quite regulary, no dust has the time to stick on the CCD.
Hope this helped :) |

This is helpful! Thanks ;)
Where do you get the air blower? It's not that compressed air that is cold is it?

I change lenses a lot and seem to work around the beach often so my CCD gets dirty fairly quickly - have to clean it at least every 4-6 months.
btw, saw your shot "Hidden" and LOVED it!

Not the compressed air that is cold. It looks just like a big rubber eye dropper, you just manually squeeze it to blow air out. Real cheap and should be at any camera store. I work at Wolf/Ritz camera and we have them. |

Here is a comprehensive way to clean your ccd, safe, too.
I just need to get the brush and gonna follow these rules. I have had my D70 for a year now and finally Sensor Swabbed it. Have been just blowing it, but finally got a hanger.
I have a problem with little hairs being (SOMEWHERE) that I can see through the viewfinder, but do not show up on the shots. Driving me crazy trying to figure out how to get rid of em.
