I posted this in another thread....

======================================================================
I am going to start carrying my camera more... in this past wee, the photo opportunities I have missed are:

1. A prototypical fireman in almost full gear in front of his truck, alarms blaring, lights flashing.... and he was smoking a cigarette.

2. A white housecat in a field stalking a Canadian goose - who was flailing his wings in preparation of defending himself.

and most recently, and appropriate for this week's challenge:

3. A concert that had a garbage can prominently displayed in one of its drum sets. The first song had the drummer beating on it and wit was rather well lit so I could have gotten some interesting shadows as well... a sure winner.

Oh well, back to my boring ideas for this challenge...

That spurned a question in me. In an attempt to feel better about shots I have missed, I was wondering if you could tell me of scenes you missed that would have made wonderful shots..... Might be therapy for the ones that I let get away....

Thanks,

Mark

I have one for you...

Right next to where I worked is a giant billboard, which had an ad for the movie Hannibal. One morning I arrived to find it perfectly framed by a brilliant rainbow, probably 160 degrees worth...I had lent my camera to a friend to take some baby pictures...

In the Ghent area of Norfolk, an old port town, the streets are narrow and lined with three-story shops. Several of these streets end at the water. Once and only once (of course a day without the camera), there was a very large ship parked nose in at the end of one of these streets. It gave the illusion from the other end of the street that is was parked on the sidewalk. It would have been a really neat photo.

Every time I'm on that side of town, I look for it.

I lived out in the back woods in the Adirondacks, and drove 17 miles on a back road to pick up my mail. I always carried my camera except for this one day that taught me a good lesson. I noticed something in a tree just ahead. I slowed down, came to a halt and there just a few yards away was a black bear cub. Another time while out on a remote lake in the Adirondacks in a boat, we saw something swimming not too far from us. At first we thought it was an otter...but as we got closer we realized it was a bear. He had a large trout in it's mouth, while we were catching NOTHING!!!! I did have a camcorder that time. The bear swam to shore, shook like a dog, and bolted into the woods. Unfortunately he dropped his fish. :-(
After those two times I captured foxes, bears, turkies, deer, coyotes, and the beautiful Pine Martens. Those were great times! I no longer live in the wilderness...that only lasted 5 years, but were some of the best in my life.
