Is selective desatch allowed in advanced editing challenges???

yes and in basic

no it's not allowed in basic..selective anything isn't allowed in basic

correction: if done in the previous mentioned tutorial way, then yes, but the way I do it with layers - no.

Depends upon how you do it. The tutorial Rex posted is for Basic editing.

Ummm...so like...a flower in B&W with only it's petals in color would fly???? In advanced?

AND is it frowned upon?
Is it frowned upon by people in Australia?
Is it frowned upon by people in The Red States?
Iceland??????

A flower with only the petals in color would be legal in advanced. If the flower was red and you desaturated all the other color channels (over the entire image), then it would be legal in Basic, too.

Selective desaturation works well with some images and poorly with others. As with any other technique, some people like it and some don't, and it doesn't matter what country they're from.
