I just secured a great deal on a used 1D m1 which should come next week! I'm just so excited, had to share :-)

you'll really enjoy the feel of an eos-1 and the 1d will make you really happy, just pay close attention to the skin tones, that model was a bit tricky there.

Thanks Gil. I have also heard there were issues with green tinting, and a correction in a tone curve? I've also heard it's possible to reduce noise with tone curves. Ever heard of that?

Yes, and I have seen it first hand (especially the green overtone, which was what I was refering to in the skintone comment) HOWEVER, for some reason, it was not an issue with ALL of the 1d's. as for noise, well that was probably the weak spot for the 1d but I don't have any first hand experience with this issue so I can't say how accurate these statements are.

I think there is always the need to put so called shortcomings of a camera in perspective...some times there is a bit too much speculating. I'm sure you'll truly enjoy this camera and that for every "obstacle" it may present...there will be a workaround.

Fantastic! I'm loving mine. The jump from a 300D is pretty sweet in terms of functionality, speed, etc.

I think a lot of the noise and colour issues were sorted out by later firmware versions. I believe 1.4 is the latest, which is what my camera came with. You can get the 1.40 firmware here.

There's four shots in my profile taken with my 1D yesterday. They're a little soft because they're heavily cropped, but it was very easy to capture them with the frame rate and responsiveness. For those shots I've basically got shots either side to make an animated GIF. :-)

Thanks for the info paul, The seller says the camera has the lastest firmware installed :-)
