3800 has no manual focus, no manual shutter speed and ISO 100 only, but automated features are excellent!More money you pay more camera you get!

I love my 3800 but I wish I could manually focus. The only thing I have a hardtime doing is focusing in the dark. I also bought a telephoto and wide angle lense from 47.st photo off of ebay. They work great and there is no loss in quality.

I also have the 3800. I think it is a great camera for beginners because it is pretty user friendly. It's good for more advanced photographers because there is a lot of settings you can change. I know ed301 has a pretty good idea about the fuji's...he explained some of the differences to me.

Ooh, I get a name check in a thread :-)

Just because I spotted that your shot was from a Fuji camera in that challenge :-)

best place to check out the differences is probably dpreview.com - they seem to go into real depth about cameras.

Both seem to be great value for money - the 602 is the 'prosumer' version - the nearest you'll get to a real pro's camera from Fuji without going upto SLR. All the control you need - and a couple of extra goodies like a maximum 1/10000 shutter speed, and ISO upto 1600 (but with limited resolution at that speed equivalent).

The only thing to watch out for is the introduction of the 4th generation superCCD - this should bring prices down for the other cameras, but I don't know what they're planning at the 602 end of the market with it - but they sure ahve something to live up to.
