If I add someone's image to my list of "Favorite Photographs" and then the image owner deletes the image, is it still stored in my Favorites or is it gone from there too?

It may possibly disappear if a member let's their membership lapse. Favs have disappeared and then reappear later.

I think it self-destructs and leaves a charred, black mark on your favorites page. :P
