My girlfriend has a coolpix 5600 (I think) and I was messing with some of her pictures in Photoshop and I saw they were 300 dpi.
But my Rebel only shows up as 180 dpi.
Am I missing something? |

You are missing that the dpi setting is ONLY relevant at the time you go to print (or sometimes display) the image. The only important factor is total NUMBER of pixels.
A picture which is 2000 x 3000 pixels can be printed as a 20 x 30 at 100 dpi, but only 2 x 3 inches at 1000 dpi. Same pixels, spread out over a greater or lesser area.
Just change the dpi setting WITHOUT RESAMPLING to whatever is convenient for you to work with; the setting out of the camera is essentially irrelevant. |

I had a feeling it would be something like that.
Maybe!
Thank you General.
I salute you. |

Just as a gauge... internet pictures usually are 72dpi (or ppi, or whatever). |
