Sorry you got knocked out, Beez. FWIW, I don't think the monitor background was the reason you were DQ'd, nor was it simply because you used the Liquify filter. You DID add a physical horse and rider in front of the monitor (although they were somewhat subtle), and filters are allowed in Advanced editing. I'm sure the cursor you left on the screen caused a lot of people to assume (incorrectly) that your image was ONLY of a monitor, and even if you had more obvious foreground elements many people would have voted low because the cursor destroyed the illusion.
The problem (in my opinion) was that you used the liquify filter to an extreme that obscured the edges of the horse. The result no longer looks like a horse, but some sort of elephant or unicorn, with drawn out shapes that were not part of your original capture. Thus, you've moved or obscured a major element, and that's what led to a DQ (despite what your email message said). Any other SC members wanna chime in? |

thanks scalvert!! i'm glad you guys could see the horse and not think i only took a photo of the monitor. the only reason i used the liquify filter in the first place was because i couldnt get the horse to look sharp so i started going around the edges and i guess since i knew what it was i was goin for i could still see the horse. but thanks again for letting me know and letting everyone else know that i didnt just take a photo of my monitor! oh and i'd like to add that if thats not the reason i got DQ'ed than i would like the real reason posted with it, why should everyone believe it was all fake?

I'm not sure I see the horse but I liked this picture and gave it a good score, despite the flaws. I really liked the idea!

The reason has been corrected. When we enact a DQ, there is a drop-down menu that allows us to select "canned" reasons for the most common DQ reasons (or whe can type our own when needed). It looks like the SC member who enacted the DQ accidentally selected "Artwork Rule" instead of "Major Elements Rule" for the DQ reason.
Sorry for the confusion.
