Help...
I just got a new Sony DSC F717 and I am having trouble getting EXIF data. My Nikon CP 5700 EXIF data showed up in Photoshop 7 File Browser. Nothing at all shows up with my 717 images. If I select 'All" instead of 'EXIF' I get some very generic data, but no exposure data.
In Ulead Photo Explorer, I am able to see EXIF data under the image properites, but the numbers that show up don't make any sense.
Has anyone else had trouble with EXIF data for this camera, or am I just doing something wrong?
Thanks,
JD Anderson

Just to share that my Canon ixus, I also cant get the ISO value from the EXIF data. It sometimes shows on the camera, but once the photo is transferred into the PC, then there's no way of getting the ISO value back. I've tried 3 different EXIF reading apps to no avail. Yikes...

Musicman, if XP Home have that feature, I guess XP Pro would too. I just havent tried that, thanks! I'll give it a shot tonite. But anyway, I'm not very optimistic about this, coz I've tried 3 EXIF readers, 2 being standalone readers, and still no ISO value from the EXIF. Maybe it's the format, or my camera....dang

All the EXIF data shows up in Zoombrowser from Canon which came with my camera. You right click the photo and select properties and all the info is there. You can also do minor editing in Zoombrowser.

Thumber should extract the EXIF as well.

I have a neat little plugin which adds an EXIF tab to the Properties window in Windows Explorer. It includes complete EXIF info, including ISO setting, focal length, shutter speed, aperture, etc.

Let me know if you want a copy and I can mail it to you.

It's freeware - can't remember where I got it, but the last time I tried the site it was down.

I use Thumber to view the EXIF data for the image files from my F707.

Your camera will display the exif data in it. Switch the camera to view mode and turn it on with the files on your memory stick. (If you've already erased them, you can copy the files back from your hard drive, it works both ways.) Hit the center multi-display button on the back of the camera, above the LCD. At this point, the images will be displayed in thumbnail, hit the same button again and the highlighted photo will display the exif data on the LCD. Simple!

(I had been thinking about posting this information as a "Did you know?" thing)

Not sure what software comes with your camera in the USA, but in the UK we get Pixela for Sony. This has two advantages, an automatic uploader from your camera, card reader if you do not have XP, and it is an album viewer (not great I admit, but does enable you to pick up all the EXIF data on your pictures).

I had the same problem with viewing the EXIF data from my F717 in Photoshop 7. Some values were missing.

I was doing the same thing that Swashbuckler mentioned, but a couple of months ago I installed Adobe Photoshop Album, and it can show you all the EXIF data from the F717.

Henry, I'm going to kick myself on the butt. You're so right, ZoomBrowser read all the values correctly from my images and I've never given it a chance before. Thanks!
