Just in the past few years these anoles have overtaken Florida. There are numerous varieties, but they came from Cuba. They appear to be bark anoles and brown anoles (or hybrids). They are very aggressive and don't fear humans, (or anything) much. The more docile green anoles have diminished greatly and have taken to higher ground, as these brown ones seem to stay down towards the ground and low shrubs.
They are very fascinating, and photogenic, but quite invasive if you ask me. I have a male exactly like this one on my porch and have been hoping to photograph. After seeing Fetor's picture, I'll pass. This is much better than I would have gotten! |
