So in the Bird challenge, I just threw in a pix that I RRRREEEEAAAAALLLLYYYYYY did not care for.
I actually was shooting for the 'turd' ribbon. I just wanted to get it out of my system. I thought it would get ones, twos, threes at the most.
Some commentors have given right on critiques about the pix, and I got to tell those people BRAVO.
The ironic part of this story is this..... it's not a ribbon winner, but along with my other submissions, it is rating an average score.
Go figure.
No posts desired on this thread, just wanted to share.
Thanx.

I got a ribbon with a photo I threw in expecting to do really badly just for an update button. |

Thats sad. Are you really that addicted to this site that you "need" to have an update button??? Honestly don't you have something better to do like comment on challenges not entered or something similar???

Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum,
What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
A man is born, he's a man of means.
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans.
But they got, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.
Everybody's got a special kind of story
Everybody finds a way to shine,
It don't matter that you got not alot
So what,
They'll have theirs, and you'll have yours, and I'll have mine.
And together we'll be fine....
Because it takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.
Yes it does.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.

Maybe they should build in a dummy update button that changes some numbers randomly when you aren't entered in anything :)

As I explained at the time, I find it useful to enter challenges even when I think the image will do badly. Sometimes I can be a harsh self-critic and it can be interesting to see what people like about an image I'm not so fond of.
And yes, I do like the drama of seeing how my picture does during the week. |

I'm getting a 4.8 on my bird photo...I have a feeling that it'd have scored 1-2 points higher if I had remembered to turn off ISO 3200 and used the 100 speed in the bright sunlight...
Hmmm....can you say ambers waves of graininess.... *lol*
Well, it's a learning experience. And a lot of people love the composition of the shot. So I'm happy...

I'm surprised the noise is that noticeable on a 640px image with your D20. See this image taken at ISO3200 with no noise reduction:
I was under the impression that noise reduction on the 20D and 7D was about equal? |

This "Bird" challenge is almost over, and its almost my bed time.
For those that I marked for your great comments, I have to tell ya, you all were right on, and am very impressed with your ability to decipher my pix.
I have to go to bed soon, I may cheat to see the results, but in case I don't for all that care, my Bird submissions original shot was way, way, way over exposed. It was so overexposed, that if it was not for the advanced editing rules, I would not of been able to save it.
Like I originally said in the begining of this thread, I really did not care if this thing won. Hell, I hoped it turded. what I really wanted was to see whom would notice the over compensation that I had to do to make the pix work.
I added filters, and layers to make the bird stand out, but because it was so overexposed, there was not alot of information, so I had to compesate in alot of the areas.
So again to those commentors, BRAVO to you.( I am standing up and clapping, if I had a bic lighter I would light it in your honor.)
