Here is some more info from what seems to be a real photographers site, or I could be duped!

Why does the IFPO have so many independent distributors? Like a pyramid deal. There are 100's of independent distributors for it each with a crappy looking site... a lot of promises and something to sell you on every link.

Also found it one of those get rich with photography sites...

It don't look totally cool to me.

Dogpile it here...

I think any site which uses an obnoxious graphic like this one:

should not be trusted.

You'd think they would at least spell Ayers Rock right, instead of Ayres Rock as listed in the Australian Collection. The current name it should be recognised as is 'Uluru'

I did a little more reading up on the place(s) and the concensous from posts/threads is don't buy their tutorials less than basic tuts.

For 54 bucks you become a lifetime member and get a lifetime subscription to their magazine.

For another 89.00 you get the IFPO Press Passes (2) badges and (1) wallet. It expires every three years.

even funnier - they advertise 61 forms for photographers, of which 3 are IFPO membership application forms... they know how to make themselves appear desperate!!

If you have photoshop can't you make your own press pass with your photo on it? There seems to be no reason that some random company is qualified to issue a press pass. I have friends who enter shows with press passes that they made themselves because they work for on-line magazines. Don't "buy" into someones business just because it costs money.

and did you see the award winners photos...oh my, even I shoot better than that...well in my own mind anyway.

I might join just so that i can pay an extra $110 to be a "master Photographer". The title comes with a collection of badges, sew on and clip on, and passport style id, which all make you an "officially endorsed" "Master Photographer". Then I could really command respect.

Especially if I was wearing this at the same time.

No one could deny it.

I have to say that it took allot tlike a scam infact i know a guy who bought a D70 on amazon and it never came and he never got the UPS conferm. number so I am always on the carful side.

Why would you want to wear a hat that says PRESS? People will be coming up to you all the time to place their hands on your head. Then they'll say, "Well, I pressed. What's supposed to happen?"
06/16/2005 10:17:50 AM · #18
People run away from people wearing hats like that...

(now what would be funny is if there was a button on the brim of the hat and if you pressed it a little voice spoke)
