most of your ones on the first page are pretty bad. THe boats are quite grainy... the pond a tad blurry. I think the ones on the 2nd page are 100x better, I like the car Window one...

Terry, waters-edge appeals to me in the sense of I love being out in the woods. I don't think I'd have rated it too high because it seems so busy with no real focal point. Not to say I don't like it. And I know that the woods by nature has lots of trees...just not easy to photograph...imo. I like all the boat pictures. My faves are the bridge images. Both are very nice, but I'd say the colored one is the best. You had lots of good ones to choose from. Nice job Terry.

HERE is the image I almost submitted, and finally went with an entirely different type of picture. Here are 2 more pictures that I liked very much in person but I didn't really capture the essence of what I saw. I have lots more but they contain some of the same elements as my submitted photo so I won't show them now. Please take a look. Comments are always welcome, and good critiques are most beneficial. Thank you!!! :-)

Well my current entry is getting slammed -- or misunderstood...
Anyone care to comment on the entry I had up all week until changing to the current one at the last moment?

Of all your outtakes I like the "Beads" best for two reasons. It's nice and colorful and the reflective surface is big enough to show the reflection. The other images, though somewhat interesting make it difficult to see the reflections. Just personal opinion of course. My Pics

CQ I couldn't find any outtakes for reflections there. I wonder....did I miss it somehow?

Reflection Outtake Paul I can tell this is a reflection because of the backwards lettering but can't tell what the reflective surface is for sure. Must be a window? I like the green light fixtures but including more of the scene into the image would add interest. Like more at eye level as opposed to the ceiling. Maybe seeing the counter. Just my opinion of course.

Paul, even though the lettering is all backwards, indicated some sort of reversing mech in works, I would rather have some frame of reference that emphasizes the reflection being such. I've had quite the conversation with one user that did submit a similar (in concept) photo that included no frame of reference. I have now been convinced that the photo in question is a reflection, but he had fewer visual clues than your shot. W/O that conversation, I might have thought, Oh the photographer "flipped" a regular photo in photoshop and submitted it as a reflection. |

Speaking of alternates, I will post mine. I posted this on photosig first because I wasn't planning on using it for the challenge since I had another shot that I thought was better, and it really took off and made me really wonder if I'd made the right choice. So here it is... Midmorning Fog. Then I took THIS ONE Saturday after I'd submitted the one I ended up submitting to photosig, and the one I submitted to DPC. But at least i had choices. I HOPE I made the right choice. We'll find out Sunday night.
*******I posted this elsewhere a little while ago, so maybe you've already seen the Midmorning Fog shot. |

You can see the reflected interior ceiling tiles pretty well above the sign, and right below it you can read the address of the apartment building across the street in the lit-up-alcove; also, there is one lamp and its reflection. I thought having juxtaposed right-reading and wrong-reading type was enough of a clue that this was a reflection, but apparently not. Also, wouldn't a bona fide reflection which "can't be told" from a "natural" image be considered pretty good?
But all-in-all, your comments are helpful and welcome; this is a shot which can fairly easily be taken again so I can try different angles and framing...
