I see a lot of people use Neat Image or Noise Ninja on there phots to reduce the grain. What seems to be your favorite and why? Or do you have another that you prefer. I have tried a demo of Neat Image. It did a good job on the "Color Me Beautiful" image. Just wanted to know what others are using and some of the pros/cons before I dive in somewhere.

I have Noise Ninja. I have PS C2 and PSP 9 and I am way more familar with PSP series so thats is what I use 95% of the time. It has a Digital Camera Noise Reduction filter that I run as well as Edge Preserse smoothing at low settings as well as Noise Ninja.

The three mos tpopular choices are NeatImage, Noise Ninja, and Noiseware. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. I personally use NeatImage, and strongly recommend the plug-in version if you are using an editing program that takes Photoshop compatible plug-ins. This way you can run your noise reduction right in Photoshop, and can run it on a selection if you desire (note that running on a part of the image is legal only for advanced editing)

Yes, I use Neat Image for Photoshop and I agree with Kirbic on the reasoning. I can create a new layer, run NI and either delete, delete with opacity changes or just fade the effect of NI in. I love it!

I use Noise Ninja, but partly because Neat Image wasn't available for Macintosh at the time. |
