Just today I acquired a D70, Nikkor 300 F2.8, and 80-200 F2.8, but being the Canon man that I am, I'm not familiar with anything Nikon. I was initially disappointed with the quality of the D70's jpg files, so i decided to shoot in RAW. So I have a few NEF files, what do I do? PSCS won't open it, I tried downloading the RAW converter for it, but it wouldn't allow me to register. Can someone give me an idea for Nikon workflow? What programs can I get for free that would help me here? Why can't I register on Adobe and download the Camera Raw? Thanks

For those of you wondering how I just "acquired" $6000 worth of Nikon stuff, it's all borrowed, I'll have it for a while.

I believe the last supported version of the RAW converter for CS is version 2.4, released, I think, in February. That should support the D70 (but not the D70s). Your other free option is RAw Shooter Essentials.

I wuld think that the D70s would be supported with the 2.4 update, considering that it is still pretty much a D70 on the inside. Did check and they do want you to sign in...not sure why. If you have CS2 then the 3.1 update would most likely work.
Quality of the jpg files can be set by you, to get the results you want....just like the 300D. I only shoot RAW so mine are basically all off anyway.

Download Raw Shooter Essentials for free here:

RSE Download Page

It is free, simple, fast and does a decent job.
